Description:

Governor's Mansion State Historic Park contains the 1877 home that was used between 1903 and 1967 as home to over a dozen governors of California and their families. The stately Victorian home contains furnishings and antiques left behind by many of its occupants, remaining much as it was when vacated in 1967. Evidence of the occupants' high status is apparent throughout the residence, from the carved ceiling panels to the marble fireplaces to the sterling silver dinnerware. The home and its manicured grounds sit a few blocks north of the California State Capitol complex, near the Crocker Art Museum.
